The WXXI Public Media App allows you to watch and listen to all of WXXI programs, Radio and TV!
The app provides On-Demand content of all your favorite shows, live streaming of the radio channels, PBS Kids! content, easy access to the live Radio and TV program schedules plus the ability to explore additional content!
Live Streaming
• DVR-like controls (pause, rewind, and fast forward). You can pause the live stream to have a conversation and pick up right where you left off. Or rewind to catch a comment you just missed.
• Listen to live streams from WXXI even while traveling.
• Integrated program schedules for WXXI Radio and TV content.
• Listen to WXXI in the background while browsing the web or catching up on your emails.
On Demand
• Access WXXI programs easily and quickly.

I usually listen to live news radio, but appreciate that many of the stories are also posted on the app to read or listen to whenever. Lately, however, the connection drops on a daily basis, especially if the app was open earlier and I'm returning to it. The only way to keep the connection uninterrupted seems to be to closeout of everything and open the app again. Sad to have such difficulty with an app I use daily!

Save time and fuss, just use the websites. App used to function OK and WXXI & its stations still broadcast good material. Problems are that app now functions only after it forces you to pick a browser (so it's no longer a stand alone app? Never ever did that before). Stations repeat their programs over & over & over (2-3x/day!), across all their stations, & even at the same time. Times are tough but it ruins the programming and spoiled the app too. App is now an aggravating waste of time.

The old app worked much better. With this new app, when I disconnect my Android phone from a Bluetooth speaker, the app continues to stream in the background, at times using my mobile data without my knowledge after I leave my wi-fi network. Now, I have to go into the app itself and force stop it in order to stop streaming. What a pain!
